What is green cleaning?
Green cleaning means using products chosen for lower health and environmental impact, ideally certified by an independent standard such as Green Seal or EPA Safer Choice. Because the term itself isn't regulated, it's most important to know which specific products a company uses and what those products are certified for.
What products does your company use?
Plant-derived products from Eco-Me, ECOS Pro and Dr. Bronner's, along with baking soda, vinegar and water for everyday cleaning. For disinfecting, WellNest uses BotaniClean, an EPA-registered disinfectant. If anyone in your home has allergies or sensitivities, or you'd prefer we use specific products, just let us know and we'll work with you.
Are WellNest's cleaning products safe for kids and pets?
Yes. WellNest uses plant-derived products chosen to be effective on household messes and gentle around children and pets, with no need to leave the house during or after a cleaning. Bleach is used on mold and mildew and a degreaser on heavy grease, since plant-derived products don't perform well on those two jobs, and those areas are re-cleaned with the regular products afterward. Homes with specific allergies or sensitivities can request adjustments when booking.
When does WellNest use bleach or stronger products?
Two jobs: mold and mildew in a bathroom, and baked-on grease in a kitchen. Plant-derived products genuinely fall short on both, so WellNest uses bleach or a degreaser there and then re-cleans the area with its regular products. If you'd prefer we skip it entirely in your home, you can set that on your account.
What do Green Seal, EPA Safer Choice and EPA registration actually mean?
They're three different things. Green Seal is an independent standard covering a product's health and environmental performance. EPA Safer Choice is an EPA program that certifies products whose ingredients meet its safety criteria. EPA registration is required for anything sold as a disinfectant and confirms the product is registered for that use and its claims have been reviewed. Registration is not a green certification, and the two are easy to mix up.
Does green cleaning cost more?
No. At WellNest, green products are the standard service rather than a paid upgrade. Pricing is based on bedrooms, bathrooms and how often you schedule, with 25% off the monthly rate for biweekly service and 30% off for weekly.
